Find Your Next Steps

We're so happy you chose Loyola University New Orleans for your college experience.

As you prepare your first semester, this page will provide you with resources, important deadlines, and tips to make your arrival a success.

Scroll down to learn about The Welcome Pack email series and explore a list of important next steps. Let's do this, Wolf Pack!

Access Your Loyola Accounts

Log into important online platforms.

Get started by setting up your Loyola email and access the Loyola network, known as the Single Sign On (SSO) portal. Check your email for step-by-step instructions to access your Loyola accounts, including instructions for free access to Microsoft Office 365. You’ll use your Microsoft login for access to SSO, LORA Self-Service where you will register for classes, and most other online accounts at Loyola. Find more tips on this page.

Contact the IT Help Desk with any technology-related questions by calling 504.865.2255 or emailing support@ngskmc-eis.net using your Loyno email address.

Once you're logged into your Gmail account, you may choose to change your name by following these instructions.

Complete Your Advising Survey

Work with your advisor to get your schedule.

Want to see what's in store for your first semester? Students in the College of Arts and Science and in the College of Music and Media should complete the Academic Advising and Involvement Interest Survey in the Admissions Status Portal. Once you complete your survey, it usually takes your advisor about two weeks to reach out to you with your draft schedule for further discussion. College of Business students do not need to complete the survey; your advisor will reach out to you to help you create your schedule.

Complete Your Affordability Questionnaire

Student Financial Services is here to help.

We are here to help in every facet of your college experience — including how you pay for it. Our team at Student Financial Services will work one-on-one with your family to determine the best payment options for you.

You can start this process by completing the Affordability Questionnaire in your Admissions Status Portal

Contact Student Financial Services for assistance by phone at 504.865.3337, by email at SFSCenter@ngskmc-eis.net, or by scheduling an appointment online.

Complete Your Health Requirements

Submit your immunization records and review your health insurance coverage.

Submit your immunization documentation or exemption no later than January 15. You can print the Immunization Compliance Form and have it completed and signed by your physician or treatment provider. Follow the instructions on the form to upload your documentation on the Public Health Portal. For more information and to download the form, visit the immunization website page. Reach out to Loyola’s Public Health team about individual questions at immunization@ngskmc-eis.net.

All full-time undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in Loyola’s student health insurance plan. You are required to use Loyola’s plan unless you can provide proof of comparable, existing coverage for the academic year. See plan details and review instructions to waive coverage. Please note: The Aetna waiver portal opens on December 1, 2023, and students must waive coverage no later than January 22, 2024.

Submit Your ID Photo

Upload your headshot for your ID card.

Log into your Admissions Status Portal and upload your headshot in the "Upload Materials" section. Be sure to select "ID Photo" from the dropdown menu. We will use your photo to make your Loyola ID, which you will receive when you arrive on campus. Please submit your photo by December 10 for processing.

Photo Criteria

  • Photos should reflect your current appearance—no sunglasses, hats, or head coverings (unless worn for religious purposes)
  • Stand in front of a plain, light colored background and use a neutral face expression with both eyes open
  • Place camera directly in front you: full face and shoulder tops should be visible
  • Clear, color images that are oriented upright only with a high resolution JPEG format (most cell phone cameras can provide this)
  • Photos taken of your driver's license, current school ID, passport or that feature another person in them will not be accepted

Add an Emergency Contact and Complete Your Registration Agreement

Complete both steps in LORA Self-Service

You are required to add your emergency contact information and complete the registration agreement in LORA Self-Service no later than January 15. Students who fail to submit an emergency contact/registration agreement before the start of the semester may risk being dropped from their courses. Follow these steps:

  1. Log into LORA Self-Service and find the “User Options” dropdown in the menu.
  2. Select “Emergency Contacts” from the dropdown, and you’ll have the option to “Add a New Contact” or “Edit” your existing emergency contacts.
  3. To add a new emergency contact, add the person’s name, relationship, phone number(s), and address. Check the “Emergency Contact” and “Missing Person Contact” checkboxes at the bottom as appropriate.
  4. Go back to the “User Options” dropdown and select the option that says, “Required Agreements” and click on the agreement form to complete it.

Complete Your Mandatory Online Orientation

Must be completed by January 12, 2024.

All new students (first year, transfer, residential, and commuter) are required to complete Loyola’s online orientation modules no later than January 12, 2024. Your online orientation program consists of video modules that cover everything from academic resources to student life and dining at Loyola. It should take no more than three hours to finish, and we’ll save your progress along the way. You’ll use your username and password from your Single Sign On (SSO) portal to access the online orientation. If you have problems logging in, reach out to our Help Desk at support@ngskmc-eis.net from your Loyola email address.

Parents and caregivers can also watch the orientation modules without logging in by clicking the “For Parents and Guests” option.
